Head of Laboratory:

Vladimir Tolev,Associate researcher I grade

Staff:

Milena Traykova, M.D.

Our mission:

Our mission is to provide excellence in diagnosis of disproteinemias, paraproteinemias and immunodeficiencies, as well as conduct research on these conditions and other hematological diseases.

Activities:

The Laboratory of Immunochemistry possesses an unique experience of over 30 years in the performance of highly specialized diagnostic studies of hematological diseases.

At present the laboratory  is a part of the "Diagnostic Section" of National Center of Hematology and Transfusiology (NCHT) and performs studies that cover patients from the Clinical Section and the Consulting Room of NCHT, as well as from other hospitals in Sofia and all over the country.

The laboratory performs diagnostic methods for qualitative and quantitative verification of normal and pathological proteins in sera, urine and cerebrospinal fluid, specification of serum proteins IgG, IgA, IgM, diagnosis of  immunodeficiency cases and also differentiation of disproteinemias.

The following methods are carried out:

-         zone electrophoresis in agarose gel

-         quantitative analysis of zone electrophoresis data by means of laser densitometry

-         immunoelectrophoresis in agarose gel

-         immunofixation electrophoresis in agarose gel

-         double immunodiffusion in agarose gel

      -    radial immunodiffusion (Mancini)

Facilities:

·         Specific appliances for the performing of electrophoresis, immunoelectrophoretic and immunofixational studies

·         Laser densitometer for quantitative evaluation of normal and pathological serum proteins

·         The laboratory is computerized and the results of the studies are kept in data base.
