Our mission: is to provide timely, refuse less and exact immunohaematological diagnostics of all the patients, requiring transfusion of blood, blood components or plasma bioproducts

-         to supply with these blood components clinical ward and out patients department of NCHT

-         to lead an adequate and contemporary transfusion therapy and  specific immunomodulated prophylactics.

Our ambtion:  We permanently work to achieve development and a perfect organization in order to raise to the high level of European and leadership world standards the quality of our immunohaematological diagnostics.

Activites: The laboratory is a leading unit of Diagnostic ward of National Center of hematology and transfusiology (NCHT).

            The laboratory performs immunohaematological studies, consultations and expert work, covered the patients with hematological disorders of NCHT:

•  from the clinical ward

•  our patients from out patients department

•  patients from diagnostic consulting rooms of NCHT.

We also serve the patients, pregnant women and newborns, referred here from other hospitals in Sofia and all over the country, particularly in case of difficulties in diagnostics under circumstances of pathology.

The following topics of general immunohematology are carried out in our laboratory:

Red cell serology -determination of red cell groups and antibody screening using routine and modern semi-automated column haemaglutination technology.

• blood groups typing

• red cell antigen typing

• red cell antibodies defection, identification and titration

• pre-transfusion and compatibility testing

• investigation of hemolytic transfusion reactions

• diagnosis and management of autoimmune hemolytic anaemias, immune- mediated  blood disorders, thrombocytopenias, acquired anaemias (PNH)

• diagnosis of drug-induced cytopenias (immune, cytotoxic)

• ante-natal, peri-natal and post-natal screening procedures and care

• diagnosis, prevention and management of the hemolytic disease of newborn

White cell serology –antibodies detection and identification, pre- transfusion and compatibility testing by:

-         LCT

-         Granuloaglutination tests

Platelet serology – qualitative and quantitative methods /CELIA, ELISA, MAIPA/ in:

- pre- transfusion and compatibility testing

- antibodies detection and identification

            The laboratory has highly qualified staff and one of the most modern specific appliances to provide most accurate immunohaematological studies.
